Former ’70s Child Star Turns Mom of Six, Raising a Child with Autism – Her Journey

Posted on August 16, 2025 By admin

Erin Murphy, once adored as Tabitha Stephens on Bewitched, chose a life far from Hollywood after the cameras stopped rolling.
Early Fame
Born in 1964, she began acting at age two, sharing the role of Tabitha with her twin before taking it on herself for over 100 episodes. She also appeared on Lassie and in films, but by the end of Bewitched, she valued childhood over fame—turning down roles like The Waltons to attend camp.

Stepping Away
Rather than chase stardom, Erin walked away, later taking only selective indie and nostalgic projects, including a 2019 return as Tabitha in TV Therapy.
Motherhood & Advocacy
Raising six sons became her true calling. When one was diagnosed with autism, she dedicated herself to supporting him and advocating for children with developmental differences. She worked with surf therapy programs and spoke publicly to raise awareness, saying, “If I’m in the public eye, I want to highlight something meaningful.”

Life Today
Grateful for her early opportunities, Erin credits acting with giving her independence and resilience. Today, she balances family life, advocacy, and the occasional project—proof that the most lasting roles are often off-screen.
