Posted on December 16, 2025December 16, 2025 By admin

The son of acclaimed director Rob Reiner remains in custody following the fatal stabbing of Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, inside their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested Sunday night and is being held without bail, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He has since been transferred to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed that Nick Reiner is the suspect in what authorities are investigating as a double homicide.

Firefighters responded to a medical aid call at the Reiners’ home shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The victims were initially identified as a man and woman, ages 78 and 68. Sources say the couple was discovered by their daughter, prompting an immediate police investigation and a search warrant for the residence. Investigators believe Nick Reiner was not home when the bodies were found and had left the area following the stabbings. He was later located near the University of Southern California and arrested on murder charges early Monday morning.

Authorities are interviewing close family members as they work to understand Nick Reiner’s relationship with his parents. Sources say he struggled with addiction and homelessness in the past—experiences that inspired the 2015 film Being Charlie, which Rob Reiner directed and Nick co-wrote. Reports also indicate a heated argument between Rob and Nick Reiner at a holiday party the night before the killings.

Tributes poured in from across Hollywood and public officials following the news. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom praised Rob Reiner’s lasting cultural impact and humanitarian advocacy. Rob Reiner, known for classics such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and Stand By Me, leaves behind a legacy that shaped generations of film and television.
