Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, were cremated following their brutal murders, and their remains were released to their oldest son, Jake Reiner, according to death certificates issued by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office. The certificates confirm that both died from “multiple sharp point injuries” inflicted by a knife and that the manner of death was ruled a homicide. Rob and Michele were cremated at Mount Sinai Mortuary, with their final place of disposition listed as their son’s residence.
Rob’s time of death is recorded as 3:45 p.m., and Michele’s as 3:46 p.m. on December 14, shortly after first responders arrived at the family’s Brentwood home. Rob’s occupation is listed as actor, director, and producer, while Michele’s is listed as producer. Rob’s marital status is recorded as married, while Michele’s lists her as widowed, reflecting the order in which their deaths were pronounced.

The release of the certificates came just hours after the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, made his first court appearance on murder charges. Nick, 32, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders, as well as an allegation of using a deadly weapon. Prosecutors said the charges carry a possible sentence of life in prison without parole.

The couple’s daughter, Romy Reiner, reportedly discovered their bodies. Days later, Rob and Michele’s children, Romy and Jake, released a statement requesting privacy and asking that their parents be remembered for the lives they lived and the love they shared.
