Elvis Presley’s 1962 Lockheed JetStar Heads to Auction

Posted on January 12, 2026 By admin

It’s rusty, missing an engine, and has been sitting on a runway in New Mexico for more than 30 years — but a private jet once owned by Elvis Presley is on the market for the second time in less than two years. The 1962 Lockheed JetStar, once joint-owned by Presley and his father Vernon, is being sold “as is” on online auction site IronPlanet.

The plane is missing an engine, the cockpit needs restoring, and its once bright red and silver exterior is faded and tarnished with rust.

But previous auction house GWS Auctions claimed the interior of the 56-year-old plane was in the same condition Presley left it, with the “gold-tone hardware, woodwork inlay, red velvet seats and red carpet”, custom-designed for the King himself, still intact.

“It’s not clear what one would do with the plane,” a report in luxury publication Robb Report said.
