FBI Releases New Update After Discovering ‘New Message’ in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Case

The FBI has released a new update in the ongoing disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of TODAY co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, after authorities confirmed they are investigating a newly received message related to the case. Nancy, 84, has been missing since February 1 after failing to attend church, and officials say she disappeared under concerning circumstances. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Nancy’s home in Catalina Foothills, Tucson, remains an active crime scene, noting there is no indication she left willingly.

Authorities believe she may have been abducted and continue to pursue multiple leads. Earlier, Donald Trump stated he had directed federal law enforcement to fully support the investigation, promising that all available resources would be used to help bring Nancy home safely. He expressed national support and prayers for the family.

On February 6, the FBI acknowledged a new message currently under review for authenticity. The update follows earlier reports of alleged ransom notes sent to media outlets demanding Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return. Investigators have not confirmed whether the message is connected to the earlier communications but say it is being carefully examined.

The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Office continue to urge anyone with information to contact authorities, with a reward of up to $50,000 offered for details leading to Nancy’s recovery or the arrest of those responsible. Evidence teams have returned to Nancy’s home as part of ongoing investigative efforts.
