Her brother, Doug Milford, confirmed she passed away in Saugerties, New York. Milford earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Vi Munson in Coming Home, a powerful war drama starring Jon Voight, Jane Fonda, and Bruce Dern. The film became one of the most celebrated movies of 1978, earning multiple awards and widespread acclaim.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Milford rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s after building a strong foundation on Broadway. She appeared alongside Richard Gere in the stage production Richard Farina: Long Time Coming and a Long Time Gone, and the two reportedly dated during that era.
