Deadliest Catch Star Todd Meadows Dies at 25 During Filming

At just 25 years old, Deadliest Catch deckhand Todd Meadows has died while filming the Discovery Channel reality series. Meadows was working aboard the fishing vessel Aleutian Lady during production of the show’s 22nd season, crabbing in the Bering Sea. His death occurred on 25 February, according to Captain Rick Shelford, who described it as the “most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady.” The exact cause of death has not been publicly confirmed.

In a heartfelt Facebook tribute, Captain Shelford remembered Meadows as more than just a crew member. “We lost our brother, Todd Meadows,” he wrote. “Todd was the newest member of our crew, but he quickly became family. His love for fishing and strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and his laughter is something we will carry with us always.”

Meadows leaves behind a wife and three young children. Shelford said his love for his family was evident in everything he did, describing him as a devoted father who worked tirelessly for those he loved. A GoFundMe page has been launched to support his family and help cover funeral expenses, with a goal of raising $16,000.

The page describes him as a “determined dad to three amazing little boys who were his entire world.” Discovery Channel also released a statement, calling his passing a “devastating loss” and offering condolences to his family, crewmates, and the fishing community. Todd Meadows is being remembered as a hardworking fisherman, loving father, and cherished member of his crew.
