Mia Khalifa recently shared unusual X-ray images of her body, jokingly calling them “never-before nudes,” as part of a creative project that also reflects her effort to reclaim control of her public image. Khalifa, whose real name is Sarah Joe Chamoun, briefly entered the adult film industry in October 2014. Her career lasted only a short time but quickly drew global attention after a controversial video in which she wore a hijab and spoke Arabic. The video sparked intense backlash and even threats from extremist groups.

Since leaving the industry in 2015, Khalifa has been outspoken about her experience, saying she felt pressured into certain decisions and later struggled with how the media portrayed her. She has repeatedly emphasized that she earned only about $12,000 during her time in adult films and had little control over how her image spread afterward. Today, Khalifa has built a different career. She works as an activist, influencer, and entrepreneur, and runs a jewelry brand called Sheytan.

Recently she also appeared at Paris Fashion Week, modeling for Trashy Clothing’s runway debut. The X-ray photos were created in collaboration with SHOWstudio, where Khalifa posed in different positions while wearing jewelry from her brand. The project playfully reimagines the concept of nudity while allowing her to express ownership over her image.

Khalifa has said that controlling how she presents herself is now very important. While she continues to create content online and work in fashion and media, she avoids explicit imagery and focuses on projects where she decides how her body and identity are represented. For Khalifa, the project is another step toward redefining her public story and moving forward on her own terms.
