Twin births are uncommon, but what happened to 23-year-old Savannah Combs of Florida was even rarer—she gave birth to identical twin girls, both with Down syndrome. Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman were born on May 12, 2021, and spent time in the NICU. As “mono-di” twins—sharing a placenta but in separate sacs—the odds of their condition are about 1 in 2 million.
