A male patient lay in a hospital bed with an oxygen mask over his face. A young, pretty student nurse came in to give him a partial sponge bath.
Through the mask, he mumbled, “Nurse… are my privates black?”
The nurse froze, embarrassed.
“Sir, I’m only assigned to wash your upper body and feet. I can’t check that.”
But the man insisted, struggling to speak: “Please… nurse… are my privates black?”
Worried he might get stressed and raise his heart rate, she finally decided to help.
She gently pulled back the covers, lifted his gown, and examined him carefully. Holding him with one hand and checking beneath with the other, she looked closely and said:
“Sir, everything looks completely normal. There’s nothing wrong.”
The man slowly removed his oxygen mask, smiled, and said:
“Thank you… that was wonderful.
But listen very carefully…
I asked… are my test results back?”
