Legendary Actress Passes Away at 95

Alice Hirson, the veteran actress known for her roles on beloved series such as Full House, Dallas, and Ellen, has passed away at the age of 95. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she died of natural causes last Friday at the Motion Picture and Television Country House and Hospital in Los Angeles. Born on March 10, 1929, in Brooklyn, Hirson was raised on Long Island and went on to enjoy a television career that spanned several decades.

She appeared in 26 episodes of Dallas and became fondly remembered by Full House fans as Claire Tanner, the grandmother of the Tanner family, appearing in two episodes. Hirson also played a significant role on the ABC sitcom Ellen from 1994 to 1998, portraying Lois Morgan, the title character’s mother. Her storyline coincided with Ellen DeGeneres’ historic real-life coming out in 1997, making the role particularly memorable.

Throughout her career, Hirson made numerous guest appearances on popular shows including Murphy Brown, Just Shoot Me!, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager, as well as several daytime soap operas. She also appeared in films such as Private Benjamin, Revenge of the Nerds, and Being There.

Beyond television, Hirson had a respected stage career, appearing on Broadway in productions including Traveller Without Luggage, The Investigation, and Solitaire/Double Solitaire. She is remembered as a versatile performer whose work left a lasting mark on American television and theater.
