Seven people, including a child, were killed and over 30 injured in a bus crash on Mississippi’s I-20 near the Bovina exit early Saturday, Aug. 31. The crash occurred after a tire blowout caused the 2018 Volvo bus carrying 47 passengers to veer off the road and roll onto its side.

Six victims died at the scene, and one succumbed to injuries later. The deceased included an 8-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl. Emergency crews transported more than 30 injured passengers to Merit Health Emergency Room.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps praised the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, highlighting the teamwork in handling the tragic accident.
