An elderly woman took her husband to the doctor for a checkup. After examining him, the doctor said, “I’m sorry, but your husband has passed away.” Shocked, the woman insisted on additional tests to be absolutely certain. The doctor agreed and called in a black cat named Mrs. Fluffkins. The cat walked across the examination table, tapped the man’s face, meowed, and left. “Still no response,” the doctor announced.
Next came Walter, a Labrador retriever, who sniffed the man’s hand, shook his head, and walked away. Then an Australian man named Collin entered with binoculars, examined the husband, and loudly confirmed the same conclusion. An elderly woman followed, inspected the patient, and typed a report confirming his condition. Finally, the doctor lifted a stool, struck the examination table near the patient, and observed no reaction. “Now I’m completely certain,” he told the wife.
Heartbroken, the woman approached reception, where she received a bill for $32,000. “THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS?!” she shouted. “How can a simple examination cost that much?”
The receptionist calmly explained, “The doctor’s visit was only $100. But you also requested a CAT scan, a LAB report, a Collin-oscopy, a ma’am-ogram, and a stool analysis!”
The woman stared at the bill in disbelief. She had asked for certainty, but she certainly hadn’t expected that price!
