At 34 weeks pregnant, I woke to my husband, Daniel, screaming “Fire!” in the middle of the night. Terrified, I ran downstairs—only to find him and his friends laughing. There was no fire. Just a “joke” meant to scare me. He knew I had survived a house fire as a child. He used my trauma for entertainment. That night, I cried alone. I realized this wasn’t just thoughtless—it was emotional abuse.

The next morning, I called a lawyer and filed for divorce. My mother urged forgiveness. My father stood by me. He understood: emotional cruelty, especially during pregnancy, is a form of violence.
