Saoírse Ruane, the brave 12-year-old from Galway whose story touched hearts on *The Late Late Toy Show*, has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Saoírse was first diagnosed in 2019, leading to the loss of her leg due to an osteosarcoma tumor. Her resilience inspired many, and her family shared the heartbreaking news of her passing: “Our hearts are shattered… our beautiful Saoírse took her last breath in our arms.”
Despite her illness, Saoírse achieved dreams like visiting Old Trafford and Disneyland. Her story spurred nationwide admiration and became central to the *Toy Show Appeal*, helping thousands of children.
Tributes poured in from President Michael D. Higgins, Tanaiste Micheál Martin, and former *Late Late Show* host Ryan Tubridy, who called her “a selfless, humble, and hopeful child.” Saoírse’s legacy as a symbol of strength and love will endure.
Her funeral will be held on Sunday at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Kiltullagh. May she rest in peace.
